Counterpoint: Alfa needs a new Giulietta and the Tonale to get into production like yesterday

Yep. Honestly I wouldn’t hate a Giulia coupe for legacy purposes, but I seriously doubt there is a GTV coming anymore. And an engine between the 280hp and 510hp options would be great on the Giulia/Stelvio. An optioned TI L usso still is so much cheaper than a Quad, so there is space in the market segmentation, just not enough sales to matter.
My Busso loving heart would love an N/A version of the 2.9 v6 good for 350-400hp, in a lightened Giorgio platform coupe with a manual and a redline more like a Ferrari than a Fiat. But I know that will never happen and getting any interesting A
lfas at all is honestly a blessing in 2020.

Alfa and FCA as a whole need a full lineup that is maintained consistently . They waited 4 years after discontinuing the 159 to replace it with the Giulia! Inexcusable . And Alfa should have had an SUV 15 years ago. They even had a very pretty concept in 2003 that they didn’t do anything with!
Then there’s Fiat, which used to be a full-line automaker like VW and Ford but is now down to the Panda, 500 and 124. That they let the Punto, once a massive seller and Fiat’s core offering , wither on the vine like it did is just bizarre.
Now that I think about i t , Fiat and Alfa combined could pretty easily be a full-line automaker. Maybe with the merger with PSA it could look like this:
A-segment/city : Fiat Panda, Fiat 500e
B-segment/subcompact : new Fiat Punto based on the PSA EMP1 platform
C-segment/ compact : Fiat Stilo for poors, Alfa Giulietta for non-poors, both based on PSA EMP2
D-segment/ midsize : Giulia as-is with regular refreshes/enhancements
C-SUV: Tonale, already due soon
D-SUV: Stelvio, also needs regular attention to stay relevant like the Giulia
Then they can start adding niche options like a Giulia Sprint/GTV etc. But the way Fiat’s been managing it, the brand is just going to muddle along in near obscurity.

Alfa needs to figure out how to get people to buy it’s cars before that.
